Recently people have asked what we use to get our pictures. So for the curious we decided to provided a little information.

The Photo Equipment:

Our collection of Photo equipment may seem large to some, but we believe in using the right tool for the job at hand. With that in mind, we also believe that the art is in the eye of the Photographer and not in the camera he or she uses. If you gave Ansel Adams a disposable 35mm, and a layperson a Nikon F5, who do you think would come out with the better photos? My money is on Ansel.

The cameras we use are listed bellow:

Minolta X-700, purchased in 1990 second hand. Que still use this camera regularly. He finds it makes him slow down and think about the image. Also some of my fastest lenses are for the Minolta. This is a manual camera.

Nikon N-50, my first Nikon purchase. On permanent loan to my mother.

Nikon N-70, this is my least used body.

Nikon N-90s, We own two of these both purchased second hand. The 90's are probably the most used of the bodies.

Minolta 160mm point and shoot, used for those "no professional camera" places we regularly find ourselves in.

Minolta Dimage 7, 200mm, 5mega pixel digital camera. This is our first digi-cam, and Que's favorite.

Cannon G2 105mm, 4mega pixel digital camera. Doesn't have the range or the pixels of the Minolta, but has a faster f-stop (think it is 2.4). We also use this camera when we want to shoot digital and the "no professional camera" places.

We also use:

About 10 lenses ranging from 28mm to 500mm

Various teleconverters mostly for the digital, but a few for the SLRs as well

About 20 filters ranging from black and white filters to polarizing to special effects, Both screw on as well has Coken/Hoya square types. (Yes, we do other photography besides concerts)

Bogan tripod with a lightweight magnesium head for the field, and a beaver three way head for home/studio use.

Bogan Monopod with a simple swivel head

A location studio set, consisting of umbrellas, reflectors, peanut slaves, stands, photo-floods, and sink cords. Along with a not very portable seamless paper stand.

Several flashes for the various SLRs

The Computer Equipment:

What Que doesn't get in pay, he gets in computer equipment and software. His original job was as a PhotoShop, 3D graphics and animation guru, so the equipment we use is relatively hi-end.

Home is a 4 year old and still functional Dell 420, Dual 733, 512 ram, G Force 4 graphics card, with 4 HDD (2 SCSI and 2 IDE) for about 180 gig of hard drive space. It also has a Plextor SCSI CD-RW, and a Pioneer A-04 DVD-R. Monitor is an 18 inch LCD. Que dislikes LCDs but it's all we have room for.

Add on items include:
Scanners: Nikon Super Coolscan 4000ED, Epson 1680 flatbed Scanner, and a HP something or other flatbed scanner
Printers: Epson 1270 X2, Canon i850, Olympus P400 (DyeSub) and a 56 inch HP (forget the numbers).
All the keyboards and Mice we use are Logitech wireless. All the easier to use with you're feet up on the desk. Also helpful for working around small dogs who think they should be the center of attention.
